Sirius Digital On-Air Broadcast Console. |
D&R is showing it’s first all digital console at the 108th AES exhibition in Paris. The Sirius is a fully modular broadcast console for on-air and production applications using the latest DSP technology of Texas Instruments. The system can be built up to customer requirements and exists of a control surface, screen, 19" rackmount I/O units , digital router and an optional "direct access" super module. The control surface can hold a maximum of 2 faderpanels containing 4 faders each. A system can be built up with a maximum of 16 faders. The control surface has a clean layout and is equipped with on-off , cue and select buttons. By selecting a module the operator has access to the module’s parameters such as EQ, routing and dynamics on the system’s screen. For those who prefer the trusted "analog feel" of real potentiometers and switches the optional "super module" will provide a solution. This module has a complete channelstrip with EQ, auxiliary, dynamics and routing sections. All potentiometers in the supermodule are motorized and settings of all pots and switches can be stored in presets. The Sirius contains a total of 32 digital Audio Processing Channels with full 4-band parametric EQ and compressor/limiter and gate. The Sirius has 2 stereo program busses, 8 group output busses, 8 cleanfeed busses and 3 stereo auxiliary busses. The system’s internal routing matrix can connect up to 64 in- and outputs. For smooth communication with both the digital and analog outside world the Sirius’ audio interfacing is also of modular construction. This way the system can be adapted to the studio environment it will be installed in. All digital inputs have their own samplerateconverters for seamless interfacing in all digital formats. Release of the Sirius is scheduled for fall this year. |
