|Multipurpose 8 buss recording and live sound mixer.||The Vision is the answer to
all those situations where you need a multi purpose mixer.
A multitask work horse that every time surprises you when you switch it on.
It is the newest addition to D&R's collection of high quality consoles. A progressive sound reinforcement/recording console and designed for the most discriminating live sound and studio engineers, the Vision can fit Into many different sound environments.
The D&R design team choose high quality components and manufacturing techniques for the Vision, such as socket mounted Analog Devices active components and ALPS pots and switches as well as glass epoxy printed circuit boards (plated on both sides where necessary).
|The Vision is available in 3 frame sizes
ranging from 19" rack mount (will hold 12 modules) up to a full 44
The Vision can be
specified with the standard master module plus any combination of
input and. group modules. In addition, a deluxe master module is
available with extra
Heavy Duty 19" Rack Power supply
for desktop versions.
Full featured input
The Deluxe input Module has a four band sweep able EQ, 8 buss routing, and 8 aux sends. An economical version with 3 band EQ, 4 buss routing, and 4 aux sends is considered to be Mono Standard module.
Deluxe and economical Standard Stereo modules are also available. All inputs are full balanced and all outputs are ground compensated balanced.
The deluxe modules have 6 segment LED bar graph meters next to the fader to allow visual monitoring of levels.
Dual function group
In each Dual Group Module two effects/tape monitor returns are standard.
Each return has access to two aux sends as well as level and pan controls.
The sub" switch allows the engineer to use the mixer in several different ways (for both sound reinforcement and recording). Like the input type modules, all inputs are balanced and outputs are ground compensated balanced.
The LED bar graph meters conform to international peak-reading standards.
A Deluxe Master Section with extra advantages and features is available. If the standard modules are ordered, a standard master section is sufficient, however, if deluxe modules are chosen, an add on master section that will accommodate the 8 aux send busses (from the de-luxe modules) is available.
This deluxe master section has aux masters 5 through 8, an oscillator section, extra stereo return, a talkback section, and a two high powered headphone outputs.
jumper settings equal total control & flexibility.
Another feature showing the Vision's flexibility is its ability to interface with most equipment through its use of jumpers to "trim" input/output levels as well as jumpers throughout the aux send electronics.
A welded steel frame is built around the electronics (to withstand the rigors of touring) and provides the shielding required for "high definition" electronics. All connections are gold-plated locking IDC connectors insuring you of reliable trouble-free performances year after year.
The Vision is the culmination of 25 years of experience in mixing console design. Our reputation for exceptionally quiet and transparent sounding consoles is clearly reflected and our dedication to sonic integrity is unsurpassed.

|THIS IS HOW BRAD FEELS ABOUT THE VISION||Copied with thanks from Gearslut forum discussion.
Now the place feels like a control room! I don't know if it's endless rows of knobs or the faux leather arm rest, but I feel like the universe has been made right for my humble little studio. Last week I took ownership of a well cared for D&R Vision thanks to fellow Gearslut, drBill. It's essentially the largest Vision frame available from D&R and is loaded with 36 mono deluxe channels, 4 stereo deluxe channels, 4 dual group modules (8 busses), and 2 matrix modules. Not only did it barely fit in my car, but it barely fits in my studio. I had to remove the two wooden end caps from the sides to make sure it fits. Large and in charge as they say.
|The build quality is exceptional on this console. The frame is made of heavy gauge sheet metal and feels bullet proof. The faceplates for all the modules are very well layed out and easy to read from a seated position. There is metering on every channel next to each fader which is a very welcome feature. The eight independent aux sends will allow me to easily interface with my Hearback cue mix system. I have the right side of the board set up as my input channels, receiving signals from all my outboard preamps. Direct outs feed the Radar 1-16. Group outs feed Radar 17-24 or my MCI 8-track tape deck. By engaging a "direct" switch I can turn Aux Send 8 into a pre-fade direct out with send level control. Nice! The left side of the board has returns from the Radar patched in. Returns from the MCI will show up on the mic inputs for channels 9-16 which I'll be modding to receive a line level input. So depending on which recorder I'm using I can just switch from mic to line to change the source.||Because each module has such a simple and "uncluttered" signal path
with socketed op amps, it's incredibly easy to swap IC chips.
already started upgrading the master section to make it even cleaner
and transparent sounding. The power supply puts out 18V rails which
give the console its excellent headroom specs. With monitor levels
full up it's insanely quiet. I hear no hiss or hum from the
speakers. Oh yeah--all the mutes are "soft" mutes using FET
switching. So there's never a click or pop associated with engaging
the mute. A MIDI mute system has been installed which allows every
single mute switch on the board to be controlled by MIDI patch
changes. There is a simple remote that will allow me to set up and
control mute groups. I expect that might actually come in handy for
switching between monitoring pre-tape sends and repro on my tape
deck...all 8 channels at once.
This is only the beginning. I think I'm in love...
